Okay, so I just have to get this out there. Those of you with children, please let me know that I'm not out of my mind (more so than usual!).
When you can ask your kids what it is they KNOW they have to do each day to keep Mommy happy and not yelling, and they can answer perfectly, WHY do they not do it?!
I am like a freakin' broken record (yes, I'm old enough for vinyl)! I say the same thing day after day, minute after minute. If you haven't seen William Tell Mom on YouTube......
So, my kids have it pretty easy since they are homeschooled. We play on nice days, kickback when we feel overworked or sick. They don't have to go to school for 8 hours, then come home and do 5 hours of meaningless drudgery. They don't seem to get that their 4 hours of non-testing, learn what means something to you, watch educational videos kind of day is a dream come true for millions of kids educated outside the home.
After all my huffing, puffing, screaming, and having them list their chores and the subjects they are planning to work on; I thought "well, maybe the 1,542nd time will do it." Sadly, I was wrong.

I homeschooled both my kids, a boy and a girl, both now grown, and have convinced my daughter that h.s is the only way! So, see? You have a 50/50 chance of raising another like-minded soul! She is a gorgeous, non-conformist who does not crave designer anythings and who can actually THINK for herself and create ....keep truckin' along...you'll see the benefits down the line...........my son is a new Papa and we expect he will also 'see the light' any day now..:)
PS-- Homeschoolers are in good company..without them there prob. would not have been anybody creative enough to give us phones to talk on while we sat under a lamp ( electricity).......Yes, Bell, Edison, Keller,G.W. Carver, Twain, Churchill......to name a few....... and there are many more whose parents loved them enough to want to teach them to be caring, creative individuals...forget the daily grind, you are in GREAT company.......
Grrr. I'm not a mom, but I hear your frustration. And that Youtube clip was hilarious. I've gotta send that to my momE
